As we continue our ‘Look Back’ series, today’s article will highlight one Star Player from the 2015-2016 season and the chosen player is – Lou Dickenson.

The left winger from Orleans, Ontario joined the Stars in 2015, after splitting the previous season between Norwegian and Danish clubs, where he scored 46 points (23 goals + 23 assists) in 41 games.

Dickenson had a 18 year professional hockey career behind him when he came to Dundee and the then 33-year-old had previously played in Ontario Junior Hockey League, USports League, East Coast Hockey League, American Hockey League, Allsvenskan (Sweden), Slovenian League, Mestis (Finland), Liiga (Finland) and Italian League.

 

 

The Canadian begun his career back in 1997 with the Ottawa South Canadians Under 18 triple A team, then during his junior career, he iced for the OHL’s Mississauga IceDogs, London Knights, Kingston Frontenacs, Guelph Storm and Ottawa 67’s.

After a year with St Thoms University, Lou then joined the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage and would also have loan spells later on with their league rivals, Hershey Bears and Manitoba Moose.

Dickenson then made the move to Europe in 2005 and a year later, he had a short spell in Edinburgh with the Capitals and made 22 Elite League appearances, scoring 23 points.

Over the next 10 years, the six-foot-two-inches winger bounced around the European continental leagues and played one season back in North America.

 

 

Although, in the 2014-2015 campaign, Lou started off with Stjernen Hockey in Norway and put up 22 goals and 19 assists in 36 appearances before finishing the year in Denmark.

In his five matches with Herning Blue Foxes, he scored once and set-up five more goals.

During his time in Dundee, Dickenson stood out immediately as a deadly goal scorer and got off to a bright start.

At the end of the season, he moved on and played his final year of pro hockey, as he signed in his homeland with Cornwall Nationals of the Federal Prospects Hockey League before joining Ligue Nord-Americaine side, Thetford Mines Assurancia halfway through.
