Dundee Stars coach Omar Pacha hailed the contribution of forward Gabriel Levesque after he was announced as the Elite League’s Player of the Week.

The 27-year-old picked up seven points, consisting of two goals and five assists as the Stars won three games in a row for the first time this season.

And Pacha revealed he couldn’t have been happier for his player, who he reckons was worthy of the accolade.

“Gabe has really stepped up for us this week as we got six points from a very busy week and it’s a well-deserved award for him,” he said.

“He’s a player who has performed well for us through the adversity we’ve faced with injuries and the team being shorthanded.

“But I couldn’t be happier for him and Gabe has been a big player for us.  On the ice, he uses his speed well and has great vision, which have been great attributes.

“It’s been a really good week for everyone at Dundee Stars and we’ll look to build on it this week against Milton Keynes Lightning and Braehead Clan.”

Levesque joined Dundee from French second tier side Anglet in the summer and is Stars’ top points scorer so far with 40 points in 31 games in all competitions.

This week, his seven-point haul helped the Stars beat Braehead Clan and Edinburgh Capitals twice as they made their push for the play-offs.

They’re currently second bottom, but the three wins means they’ve closed the gap to two points on Milton Keynes, just above them in tenth and their next opponents on Saturday.
