The MKM Dundee Stars fell 7-0 to the Cardiff Devils in the penultimate game of their four-game homestand.

Cardiff opened the scoring at 10:03 through Gleason Fournier, who carried the puck through neutral ice and found space in the Stars’ zone to fire a shot that rang off the post before burying his own rebound.

Riley Brandt made it 2-0 shortly after, picking up a pass from Ben Davies and firing a shot from the high slot above the shoulder of Kruse at 10:37.

The Devils thought they had added a third at 12:57 after Brett Perlini redirected the puck past Kruse. However, after video review, it was determined the puck had been kicked into the net, and the score remained 2-0 heading into the first intermission.

Josh MacDonald made it 3-0 at 29:33, capitalising on a turnover in the Stars’ zone and beating Kruse in close.

Joey Martin added a fourth at 34:26, putting a rebound past Kruse after the Stars’ netminder had made an initial pad save on a shot by Cole Sanford.

Josh MacDonald scored his second of the game and made it 5-0 at 40:58, redirecting a shot by Cole Sanford past Kruse.

Tensions flared before the midway mark of the third period, as Jackson DeSouza dropped the gloves with Brett Ferguson in an effort to spark the Dundee offence.

A boarding call against Gleason Fournier put the Stars on the powerplay just after the halfway point of the period. However Brett Ferguson broke away shorthanded, and beat the blocker of Kruse to make it 6-0 at 52:45.

Riley Brandt sealed the win for the Devils with his second goal of the game at 58:34, redirecting Brett Perlini’s pass into the Stars’ net.
