Formed in the summer of 2016, “Stars in the Community” aims to make a difference to the lives of young people in Dundee and the surrounding areas.
Throughout the season we team up with local schools, clubs and organisations to broaden the appeal of ice hockey and the Dundee Stars.
Our players and staff, promote healthy, happy and active lifestyles to young people throughout the area. Our players are also positive male role models in the community. We aim to tackle childhood obesity, lack of physical activity, social exclusion and break down barriers for less fortunate and vulnerable children in our community.
Since it’s inception the ” Stars in the Community” projects have worked with over 8000 young people in the local area.
In 2019/20 our target is to work with over 3000 school aged children, within 30 minutes drive of Dundee Ice Arena.
Our Community initiatives are delivered by Community Manager, Michael Ward and at least two professional players attend each visit too.
We are actively seeking Community Partners, that can aid us with funding, resources and/or expertise to deliver these projects and meet our goals.
Schools, clubs or organisations interested in getting involved in the programme should contact Michael at [email protected]
