The MKM Dundee Stars travelled to the Spectrum looking to avenge their loss to the Guildford Flames just 48 hours prior, but fell 4-3 on the road.

By Luke McGinnis

Guildford opened the scoring through Charlie Curti, who carried the puck into the Stars’ zone and fired a shot from the left circle past Emil Kruse at 03:37.

Tyler Preziuso made it 2-0 at 12:39, pouncing on a loose puck after the Stars’ netminder had made a strong save on a streaking Jack Jacome in close.

Matt Boudens got Dundee on the board early in the second period, beating Justin Fazio with a wraparound goal at 20:50.

The Stars came close to levelling the score on the powerplay at 28:09, when Justin Bean blasted a powerful shot from the point which required a referee-initiated review to confirm it had not crossed the goal line.

Tyler Busch added a third at 29:44, redirecting a shot from the blue line by Jonathan Racine past Kruse.

Drydn Dow made it a one-goal game at 32:47, picking up a picture-perfect cross-ice pass from Morten Jurgens and beating Fazio with a wrist shot from the left circle.

Ethan Strang restored the home side’s two-goal cushion just 13 seconds later, beating Kruse in close at 33:00.

Dow redirected a pass from Kameron Kielly past Fazio for his second of the night on the powerplay at 36:47.

Neither side could find the back of the net in the third period, with both teams trading chances in a back-and-forth frame.

Dundee pushed late in search of the equaliser, pulling Kruse for the extra attacker, but Guildford held firm to secure the win.
