Michael Ward, Commercial and Community Manager for the Kitmart Dundee Stars commented: “For many years now, the Stars have teamed up annually with a charity to host a charity game at Dundee Ice Arena, in the hope that we can raise vital funds for their organisation and highlight the fantastic work that these charities do.

This season we felt, as a family and an organisation, that we wanted to work with a local charity this time around, with the charities focus firmly on tackling poverty in and around Dundee.

“Dundee Bairns is a fantastic charity. I have been lucky enough to see the amazing work they have been undertaking in Dundee, having been privileged to become a volunteer since the pandemic began.

“I have seen the massive progress they have achieved in that short time and throughout a very challenging period.”

“We also hope to encourage our fans to do sponsored walks, such as the Kiltwalk, for the benefit of Dundee Bairns and possibly host other fundraising events and support a wonderful cause.”

David Dorward, Dundee Bairns Chief Executive commented: “Dundee Bairns is a local charity set up to support local families in need, and we are absolutely delighted that Dundee Stars have selected us as their nominated charity and will host this upcoming charity night in our honour.

“Dundee Stars have always had a very strong commitment to the local community and our partnership with them is the latest example of their community focus.”

Genna Millar, Dundee Bairns Co-ordinator commented: “Dundee Bairns is extremely grateful for the generous support offered by Dundee Stars.

“This is such a meaningful partnership for us as a local charity, helping local children and we look forward to a brilliant local partnership, and sharing the wonderful community ethos that the Dundee Stars team brings to our city.”

Dundee Bairns are currently undertaking their food provision deliveries throughout the Easter school holidays and are recruiting new volunteers to deliver food provisions throughout the school summer holidays and are also on the lookout for other volunteers for admin roles, graphic design, social media/website and any other skill set, that will enrich the work they do now and hope to achieve in the future.
