Welcome to this week’s instalment of the Dundee Stars A-Z series. Today, we bring you all of the players in Stars history, whose names begin with the letter ‘R’.

PLAYERS

Ratushny, Dan – Joined the Stars for 24 games of the 2002/2003 British National League season and the defender racked up 32 points. The 1989 Winnipeg Jets, NHL Draft Pick switched coasts that year, as he left Ayrshire-based, British Super League side, Scottish Eagles and also featured in an episode of Still Game.

Rawlyk, Rory – Was one of the pivotal players in the Stars 2013/2014 Gardiner Conference winning season and the big Canadian defenseman was solid at back and clinical when going forward. Rawlyk played in 48 games that season, scoring eight goals and assisting on 35 more.

 

 

Reekie, Chad – Played 32 games in the Stars 2004/2005 British National League campaign and returned to help the club in the 2008/2009 Northern League.

Reekie, Grant – Was a part of the Stars squad for 12 games of the 2009/2010 Northern League season and three of the club’s debut Elite League campaign.

Reynolds, Adam – Played one game for the Stars in the 2011/2012 Elite League season and now ices with Bradford Bulldogs in the NIHL 2.

Rhyanen, Sami – Was the team’s top point scorer in the 2012/2013 campaign, netting 31 goals and setting up 70 more. The Finnish centerman had impressed just months earlier in a brief stint with Nottingham Panthers before moving to Dundee the following summer and by the end of the year had the most assists in the league and was voted into the EIHL All-Star Second Team.

Ricci, Fabrizio – Was a key player for the Stars in the 2018/2019 season and the Canadian put up 42 points in 67 appearances that year. Ricci was a pacey and skilful winger, who now ices in the East Coast Hockey League with Orlando Solar Bears.

 

 

Ricci, Rob – Made 16 appearances for the club in the 2014/2015 campaign and before his early departure, he scored six goals and created four more.

Ridler, Glen – Started in between the pipes for Dundee during the 2004/2005 British National League season but left the club after just five games.

Ringrose, Sean – Came in late to the 2014/2015 season but went onto play 34 times for the Stars, collecting 23 points.

Riopel, Nicola – Backstopped the Stars in the 2012/2013 season, playing in 61 games and the Canadian was selected in the EIHL All-Star Second Team that year. Riopel impressed many during his year on Tayside and across the league campaign posted a 90.12% save percentage and a goals against average of 3.47.

 

 

Robertson, Iain – Was a Star for three season between 2007 and 2010, playing for the club  in the Northern League and Scottish Premier League. The forward made a total of 55 appearances for Dundee, racking up 87 points.

Robertson, John – Iced in a total of 27 games for the club and scored 26 points across the 2003/2004 BNL season and 2005/2006 Scottish National League and Northern League campaigns.

Rugg, Stewart – Was the Stars back-up goaltender for the three seasons and the Scot featured in 15 games between 2001 and 2004.

Russell, Gary – Played a total of five games in the Dundee net during the 2006/2007 season before going on to back-stop for Elite League teams, such as Edinburgh Capitals and Braehead (Glasgow) Clan.

Ryan, Matt – Iced in 26 games for the Stars in the 2014/2015 season, scoring 17 points before leaving in the November.

Rycroft, Daymen – Was a part of the Stars roster for just three games of the 2004/2005 BNL season.

 

THE OTHER STUFF

The Dundee Stars have only ever had one RUSSIAN player on their roster during their previous 19 seasons.

Nikita Kashirsky joined the Stars for the 2013/2014 season and was the Player-Assistant Coach to Jeff Hutchins when the Stars lifted the Gardiner Conference trophy.

The Moscow-born centerman, grew up with Stanley Cup Champion and Washington Capitals Captain, Alexander Ovechkin and Nikita’s last professional season was in 2015/2016, as he split the season between three ECHL teams.
