Glasgow got off to a dream start through David Madsen, who opened the scoring just 64 seconds in. Jake Johnson sent a cross-ice pass to Madsen in the right circle, where he fired the puck past Carl Stankowski at 01:04.

Keaton Jameson levelled the score with his first of the night against his former team at 12:10. A strong forecheck by Sebastian Bengtsson saw the Swede send the puck from behind the Clan net to the high slot, where Jameson was waiting to pull off a beautiful drag-and-release to beat Liam Soulière and make it 1-1.

Mick Messner restored the home side’s lead early in the second period at 22:33. Brady Risk managed to get a partial breakaway, which Stankowski denied. However, the puck came loose behind the net, where Rylan Schwartz picked it up before sending a pass to Messner, who fired into an open net.

Rasmus Nousiainen and Deven Sideroff engaged in the first of three fights throughout the second period, with the Glasgow captain and Nousiainen trading heavy blows in the Clan zone at 23:04.

Cade Neilson crashed the Stars’ net and came close to jamming the puck past Stankowski, hitting the post in the process. Powell Connor went straight at Neilson, with the two dropping the gloves in a short yet spirited bout at 31:53.

A heavy hit from Evan Brand on Josh Tarzwell sparked a response from Ross Armour, and the two dropped the gloves for the third scrap of the period. The Clan forward received an additional two-minute minor and a 10-minute misconduct for instigating.

Dundee responded on the ensuing powerplay at 38:14 through Travis Ewanyk to make it 2-2. A face-off win by Keaton Jameson set up a strong cycle in the offensive zone, resulting in a point shot from Gary Haden that was redirected in close by the Stars’ captain past Soulière.

A turnover in the Stars’ zone led to Brady Risk firing a pass to Rylan Schwartz in close, and the forward made no mistake with a spinning backhand finish at 38:30 to make it 2-3 heading into the final period.

A fast start from Dundee to begin the third resulted in an equalising goal less than two minutes into the period. Powell Connor picked up the puck from Josh Nelson and fired a shot from the point, which appeared to take a deflection off a Stars forward and into the back of the Clan net at 41:58.

Rylan Schwartz scored his second of the night at 44:53, redirecting a pass from Steven Seigo past Stankowski to make it 3-4.

Matt Spencer added a fifth at 46:29, jumping into the play and finding space in the high slot to fire the puck under Stankowski’s glove.

Immediately following the goal, Cole Kodsi took exception to a hit from Kris Inglis, with the two dropping the gloves. Inglis made quick work of Kodsi, delivering a couple of heavy lefts to take the Clan forward down.

A double-minor penalty for high-sticking on Matt Spencer gave the Stars a four-minute powerplay and a prime opportunity to equalise. Rasmus Nousiainen pulled a goal back for Dundee, firing a picture-perfect shot off the initial face-off win at 53:45. Keaton Jameson scored his second of the game just over a minute later at 54:54 on the same powerplay, redirecting Gary Haden’s shot from the point past Soulière to send the game to overtime.

A face-off win by Keaton Jameson saw Ross Armour’s stick break, forcing the Clan forward to retrieve a replacement and leaving space for the Stars to push ahead on a three-on-two. Rasmus Nousiainen set up Jameson, who completed his hat trick and secured the extra point just five seconds into overtime with a backhand past Soulière.
