Sebastian Bengtsson found space behind the Memmingen defence, breaking in alone and pulling off a nifty move in close to beat Valentin Ankirchner at 03:15 and open the scoring.
Keaton Jameson doubled the Stars’ lead at 09:18, pouncing on a loose puck in front of the Indians’ net and putting it past Ankirchner.
Carl Stankowski, making his first start for the Stars, was sharp to deny the visitors throughout the opening frame and keep the score at 2-0 heading into the second period.
Jonathan McBean added a third goal at 30:59, breaking into the Indians’ zone and displaying a high level of skill as he backhanded the puck above Ankirchner.
A turnover in the Memmingen zone allowed Keaton Jameson to score his second of the night, redirecting a shot from Zack Hoffman into the visitors’ net at 33:41.
McBean wasted no time in scoring his second goal of the game just nineteen seconds later. Ankirchner made an initial pad save on a shot from the Stars’ blue line, but McBean was first to the rebound and slotted it past the Memmingen netminder at 34:00 to make it 5-0.
A two-minute minor for delay of game against Duggie Lagrone gave Memmingen a key powerplay opportunity, which Simon Thiel converted at 52:17 to pull a goal back for the visitors.
Sebastian Bengtsson finalised the scoring late with his second of the night, picking up a cross-ice pass from Connor Powell and blasting a one-timer past Ankirchner at 58:01 to secure a massive 6-1 win.
