The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars suffered their first defeat of the season to their Tayside rivals, Fife Flyers as they were beaten 4-1 in Kirkcaldy on Saturday night.

By Kris Smith

The Stars did not get off to a great start on the road as they found themselves a man down for two minutes after 90 seconds when Kris Inglis was sent to the box for a tripping foul but they managed to kill of the penalty and began to get forward on the attack.

After testing Shane Owen in the Fife goal through the opening minutes, Dundee’s Zach Tsekos would start the scoring as he slipped through the Flyers defence before dispatching the puck between the legs of Owen.

The Stars would still be 1-0 up at the first break but in the second session, the home team responded and tied the game up inside 24 minutes as blueliner, Daniel Krenzelok slapped Michael Cichy’s pass into the back of the net.

The Czech defenseman then bagged a second five minutes later to put Tom Coolen’s side in front and once again he slapped home a cross-ice pass to beat Dundee netminder.
