The opening period in Dundee was largely controlled by the visitors, with Glasgow coming out with speed and outshooting the Stars 11:4.
Cade Neilson capitalised on the early momentum with the lone goal of the first, finishing off a tic-tac-toe play to beat Carl Stankowski five-hole at 01:17.
Matt DeBoer equalised just before the half-way point of the game, scoring his first professional goal at 25:21. Liam Souliere made an initial pad save on Jonathan McBean in close, but DeBoer was first to the rebound and fired it home.
Julius Reini responded less than three minutes later, restoring Glasgow’s lead at 28:01 with a redirection on a shot from Neilson to make it 1-2.
Mike Messner added a third at 31:08, beating Stankowski off a two-on-one rush to make it 1-3 heading into the third period.
Rasmus Nousiainen made it a one-goal game at 46:43, poking the puck past Souliere in close.
Travis Ewanyk equalised the score less than a minute later, picking up a tight angle shot from Zach Hoffman and firing it into the Clan net at 47:35.
A hooking penalty on Cade Neilson gave the Stars a late powerplay opportunity, which Nousiainen converted on at 53:39 for his second of the night.
A picture-perfect pass from Duggie Lagrone found Nousiainen breaking in behind the Clan defence, who made no mistake as he backhanded the puck past Souliere.
Nousiainen completed his hat trick at 57:38, firing the puck into an empty Clan net to seal the Stars’ first win of their 2026/27 Challenge Cup campaign.
