The second game in our busy weekend schedule matched the Stars up against the Edinburgh Capitals, our first ever match up with a team from the FBNL.

As in Friday night’s game, the first period was a scoreless affair, with Edinburgh netminder Crossland in top form. The young Capitals team team skated well and showed some fine touches.

Into the second period and Gary Dowd smashed in a shot from the blue line to give the Stars the lead at 28:54. The Stars went further ahead in 32:16 when Tony Hand scored his first goal for the Stars and just forty second later Paddi Lochi made it three with a fine goal assisted by Teeder Wynne and Tony Hand, given the Stars a comfortable cushion going into the third period.

The third period started with the Capitals having their best spell of the match and went close on a couple of occasions. However, the Stars picked up the pace and on 50:46 mark up stepped Nate Leslie to finish off a perfect pass from Scott Young to make it 4 – 0 Stars.

Craig Nelson got the goal heĀ  richly deserved at 56:45 after fine lead up play by Andy Finlay. The scoring was completed with thirty seconds remaining, when Teeder Wynne finished off a fine move.

Overall a fine performance and an excellent boost to the confidence.

Final Score: Edinburgh Capitals 0 – 6 Dundee Stars
