The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars are beginning a new weekly series that will highlight one player before every match, with the focus of showcasing this season’s talented squad.

The first player chosen to be in the spotlight for this weekend’s preseason double-header against Belfast Giants, is Mac Howlett.

The 22-year-old, Englishman joined the Stars from Guildford Flames this past summer and has plenty Elite League experience to boast at such a young age, after other spells with Coventry Blaze and Glasgow Clan.

So far, the forward who can play both center and on the left wing, has featured in 199 EIHL matches and has also played abroad in the German and Finnish leagues, while being capped 20 times for GB’s U18’s and U20s.

However, his on-ice performances at this week’s training camp have impressed more than his remarkable resume.

Many fans have been delighted with the raw pace, explosive agility and highly accurate shooting Mac has displayed throughout the week and he will certainly be considered a danger in front of the Giants net this weekend.

After signing Howlett in the summer, Stars GM and Head Coach, Jeff Mason expressed his delight at getting his man, as Mac was highly-sought after and turned down other opportunities to join the Stars.

Mason said: “Mac is a player that I have had interest in for a few years now and under Pete Russell at Glasgow, he showed a lot of promise.

“Certainly, for a player of his age, he has a lot of experience and plenty of experience in this league already.

“He is also someone who is very hungry and I see him being able to develop over the next season and take the next step forward in his career.”

Make sure you don’t miss Mac and the rest of the Stars team when they face Belfast on home ice this Sunday, get your tickets NOW.
