From 68 games, the six-foot-one-inch forward collected 52 points, 24 of which were goals.

Prior to the 2017-18 season, Pearce had been playing in the USports League with the University of Calgary, where he was teammates with Drydn Dow for four years but at the end of his senior year, he signed on with Manitoba for the final part of the 2016-17 AHL season.

Pearce also had a successful junior career in the Western Hockey League, spending a majority of his four years with the Kootenay Ice, where along with, new Stars recruit, Jagger Dirk, he won the WHL title in the 2010-11 campaign.

He has also represented Canada in the Universiade competition, where he was part of the side that won a Bronze Medal.

Elgin was also highly decorated with awards during his time at university, winning the USports (West) UBC Hockey Alumni Trophy for Sportsmanship and Ability and the Most Sportsmanlike Player award for three years in a row.

Once his latest recruit’s deal was finalised, Pacha said:

“Elgin has been on our radar now for a few weeks and it was one of those situations where we were patient and we finally got him, so we are really excited to have him.

“We were looking for a guy in his position to bring offence, have a good shot and to be good around the net and we found that in Elgin.”

“He is a guy that knows where the net is and has scored a lot of goals in the CIS.

“He also had a good career in the ECHL and was up and down in the AHL as well.

“He is going to add skill and a bit of grit but also he is a guy that is a complete player and we are just delighted to have him.

“Drydn was crucial in getting this deal done and he was able to provide a great reference for Elgin, so that just shows that we have guys all helping each other within the club.

“Pearce can play in any situation and I know he can do really well in his first year in Europe.”

After confirming his first move to Europe, Elgin said:

“I am very excited, it is obviously a new opportunity for me and its my first time in Europe.

“I really don’t know what to expect but Omar and Drydn have been very welcoming and I am just excited to get over there and get started.”
