The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars return to league action tonight as they welcome Nottingham Panthers to the DIA for the first time this season.

The Stars are aiming to propel themselves up the Elite League table tonight as they seek revenge against the Panthers for a narrow defeat last weekend as they battled it out for more than 60 minutes in Nottingham.

On their first visit to the Motorpoint Arena, Dundee took a point from the Panthers as they forced Jonathan Paredes men to overtime but would lose 2-1.

After Mathieu Lemay had given the home side the lead, Carter Johnson’s powerplay goal put the Taysiders back on level terms but three minutes into the extra period, Victor Bjorkung fired home the winner for Nottingham.

Marc LeFebvre’s men currently sit seventh in Elite League on three points, five points behind the second-place Panthers and a win tonight could see them climb into the top six.

Last night, the Stars suffered a 4-1 Challenge Cup loss in Glasgow as the Clan stormed into a 4-0 lead before Ryan Valentini put the Tayside team on the board, in the third period.

Reflecting on last night’s match and what he wants to see from his side tonight, Stars Head Coach, LeFebvre said: “We had 38 shots and only one goal.

“We have had 95 shots in our last three games and only two goals so we have to start scoring more goals and guys have to bear down in front of the net.

“There are chances there but when we have the chance to shoot, we are not shooting it and I thought they (Glasgow) had two goals off the run of play tonight and giving up a shorthanded goal is unacceptable at any time of the season.

“I do not care how much pressure they put us under, we cannot be giving up shorthanded goals.

“The cup is over done with now, so we have to focus on the league and reaching our goal of being in the top eight and getting to the playoffs.

“So it is a league game tomorrow and we need to get points out of that game.”

Face-off for tonight’s home game is at 5pm. Get your tickets HERE!
