We were delighted by the response to our Kitmart Dundee Stars Christmas Charity Shirt Off the Back competition.

Our fans bought into this new initiative, instead of donating Teddy Bears and we sold a fantastic 876 tickets.

The club and Kitmart also decided to donate 10% of all sales on our Official Shop from the first week in December towards the total and finally the club directors rounded up the total, to enable us to donate £200 to each of these fantastic local charitable organisations.

Dundee Bairns received £200 to go towards all the fantastic work they have undertaken in the community over this very difficult year, especially during this Christmas period.

Yesterday and today Michael Ward, our Commercial and Community Manager, was out helping to deliver Food vouchers, Food hampers and Activity Packs, to enable 300 families to enjoy Christmas that little bit easier.

This amazing initiative, that we have proudly supported for the past two years, has only been made possible with the fantastic support of the Apex Hotel Dundee, DCA and BrightSolid.

We donated £200 worth of vouchers, £100 from Smyths Toystore and £100 from HobbyCraft to the Tayside Chidren’s Hospital in Ninewells. These invaluable funds will be spent within the Play Centre at the Children’s ward, to make a stay at Ninewell’s, that little bit easier for the Children and young people at this time of year.

We again supported TayFM Mission Christmas and Help for Kids.

Generally we donate lots and lots of teddy bears to both of these fantastic charities, after our Teddy Bear toss game.

But with the suspension of the season and Covid-19 restrictions in place, we thought it best to raise funds and make donations to both organisations.

We were delighted to donate £200 to each of these organisations, to aid with the fantastic work they do in the community and to make Christmas morning special for families in and around Dundee.

We also supported Big Recovery Food Parcels this Christmas, with a donation of £200 towards the fantastic work that Gary has undertaken.

Gary has already helped 218 families, that are struggling to put food on the table with a discreet and anonymous service.

Big Recovery have had an amazing response from the business community in and around Dundee, with significant assistance from Morrison’s in Dundee. To read more about this fantastic initiative click HERE!

Finally, we couldn’t have done any of this, if it wasn’t for you, our amazing fans. Thank you!!

From everyone at the Kitmart Dundee Stars, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and see you all at the DIA in 2021.
