The MKM Dundee Stars have confirmed that captain Drydn Dow will move on from the club, bringing an end to one of the most memorable and influential eras in recent Stars history.
Dow leaves Dundee having cemented himself among the club’s all-time greats, finishing second in franchise history for games played, points, and assists while recording an outstanding 300 points during his time in Stars colours.
Like the recent farewell paid to hometown favourite Craig Garrigan, the departure marks another emotional moment for the club and our supporters as Dundee says goodbye to a player who became synonymous with the Stars jersey and became an honorary Dundonian.

A leader on and off the ice, Dow served as captain with distinction and played a major role in helping establish the culture and identity of the modern Stars squad. His consistency, professionalism, defensive and offensive production made him one of the Elite League’s most respected defensemen during his spell in Dundee. Winning accolades throughout his spell.
His impressive list of awards and milestones includes:
EIHL Defenseman of the Season: Awarded for his standout performances on the blue line.
EIHL First All-Star Team: Selected as one of the league’s top players.
EIHL Second All-Star Team: Earned this selection in both 2020 and 2024
Top Scoring Defenseman: Led all Elite League defensemen in regular-season goals twice (in 2019-2020 and 2023-2024)
One of four other players to make the Dundee Stars 400 Club: Inducted to celebrate his milestone of making over 400 appearances for the club.
Throughout his time with the Stars, Dow was central to many of the club’s biggest moments and playoff pushes, while also becoming a fan favourite for his passion, commitment, and connection with the Dundee support.
While the new chapter now awaits, Drydn leaves with a legacy firmly secured in Dundee hockey history, not only for the numbers he produced, but for the leadership and standards he brought to the organisation every single season.
Everyone connected with the Dundee Stars will undoubtedly echo the same message:
Once a Star, always a Star.
