Hi Stars fans,

I am hoping everyone is staying healthy and ready for the festive period.

December has always been a very busy month for us here at the Stars. In the last few weeks, we have launched some initiatives to keep our fans engaged during the festive period including Throwback Games, that will give you great memories of past seasons.

On top of this, we launched our New Year/Hogmanay 50/50 draw, that will take place on December 31st at 11:45pm. We will put 2020 behind us and have one lucky winner taking home the jackpot! If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, you can buy them HERE!

As you all may know, the substantial financial impact on the sporting world has been a big talking point. We have not been exempt from the pressures that the pandemic has brought.

Throughout the last nine months, I cannot thank our fans and sponsors enough for the support and commitment, to help the financial burden the club has faced. We are extremely thankful, and this support is pivotal to the ongoing operation of the Stars.

In late April, I reached out to MSP Joe Fitzpatrick, regarding available Scottish Government support for professional sports clubs.

Following that discussion, many talks have occurred with SportScotland in the efforts to contribute to the club’s losses.

After the Scottish Government announcement last week, I was pleased to get the indication that funding will be primarily focused on the three professional Scottish teams in their efforts to absorb lost revenue from ticket sales. We are expecting positive news in the next few weeks.

To clarify, the funding is to help keep the club going until the start of the next full season.

There has been a lot of discussions surrounding the possibility of a January start, with a shortened campaign spanning over a three-month period.

As much as everyone associated with the Club are thirstily anticipating a return to action, it is our belief that this approach is unfeasible, with the ongoing health and safety risks.

Instead, the Club will aim to use this period of shutdown to continue to build solid foundations, with the aim to return stronger than ever.

Despite not having hockey to look forward to every weekend, the Club will continue to do its utmost to keep fans engaged and informed on any progress in our return to play.

Gold Club Welcome Pack

The Dundee Stars Gold Club welcome packs are being sent out this week to all our members and we can’t thank you enough for joining.

This is an initiative that we are all excited about and the response so far has been excellent. We have great plans for the future of the Gold Club and we hope to grow the number of members further. For more information on the Gold Club click HERE! and if you wish to set up a monthly pledge and join the Gold Club click HERE!

As much as it is difficult for everyone attached to the Stars at the moment, it won’t be long until we are back in the spring/summer months, building towards a fresh campaign and announcing our squad to proudly represent the City of Dundee and North East of Scotland.

I want to wish all Dundee Stars fans a Merry Christmas and Happy New year. See you soon!

Thanks,

Pach
