The MKM Dundee Stars are gearing up for a midweek clash against the Belfast Giants, just 72 hours after securing their first win of the new year.

Marc LeFebvre’s men split the weekend, falling 5-2 on the road to the Cardiff Devils before responding with a 4-3 home victory over the Guildford Flames.

“I’m proud of the guys, they deserve all of the credit,” said LeFebvre. “We just found a way to win, the guys stuck with it and we got two key points in the standings.”

Sunday saw goaltender Emil Kruse and defenceman Justin Bean return to the lineup, providing much-needed depth after a run of injuries had shortened the Stars’ bench.

“It’s tough sitting out, not being a part of things,” said Bean. “I’m healthy now, and happy to be back.”

Dundee and Belfast have already met six times this season, with four meetings coming in Challenge Cup action and two in the regular season.

The most recent encounter came in Belfast a number of weeks ago, where the Giants came away with a 7-1 victory.

Since then, the Giants have claimed a point in five out of their last six games, something Head Coach Adam Keefe will be looking to improve upon in Dundee.

“Belfast has a ton of skill, both up front and on the back end,” added Bean. “They’ve been rolling lately, so we owe them a full effort and I think we can be successful.”

“We can’t control what other teams do or the results,” concluded LeFebvre. “We’ve won two of our last three, so we’ve got good momentum going into this week.”

Faceoff for tonight’s matchup is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., with tickets on sale now.
