Dundee came out strong in the opening frame, looking to capitalise on a tired Belfast squad playing their third game in three nights.

Spencer Naas opened the scoring at 03:57, firing a shot from the right circle which deflected off a Belfast skate and past Alexis Gravel.

David Goodwin responded to level the score at 1-1, backhanding the puck past Emil Kruse at 10:39.

Belfast took their first lead of the night at 24:14 through Gabe Bast, who fired a slapshot from the point past Kruse on the powerplay.

Just as it looked like the score would remain 2-1 heading into the second intermission, Jake Gaudet pounced on a loose puck on the doorstep to give the Giants a two-goal advantage going into the final period.

Nicolas Guay extended the lead 34 seconds into the third, firing a shot from the high slot above the glove of Kruse.

J.J. Piccinich added a fifth at 50:58, finding space behind the Stars’ defence and beating Kruse five-hole in close.

Ryan Smith rounded out the scoring at 52:41, picking up a pass from Ben Lake and firing a shot into the Dundee net to make it 6-1.
