The MKM Dundee Stars ended 2025 on a high note, defeating local rivals Fife Flyers in a dramatic shootout win.

Otto Nieminen opened the scoring at 08:24, backhanding the puck past Shane Owen after a strong forecheck from Quinn Ryan forced a turnover behind the Flyers’ net.

A hooking call against Jackson DeSouza, followed shortly by a double minor for high-sticking to Matt Boudens, handed the Flyers the first powerplay opportunities of the night.

David Booth converted on the man advantage, firing a one-timer from the right circle past Jarrett Fiske at 10:12.

Matt Berry restored the Stars’ lead at 14:07, redirecting a pass from Craig Moore past Owen.

The Flyers equalised once again through Milan Lucic, who snapped a one-timer off a faceoff win above the glove of Fiske at 19:12.

Just as it looked like the score would remain level heading into the first intermission, Drydn Dow buried a rebound past Owen at 19:50 to give the Stars a late lead.

Logan Neilson tied the game at 3-3 just after the halfway mark, collecting a cross-ice pass from Ian Scheid and beating Fiske with a one-timer at 30:24.

After Craig Moore was denied on a breakaway by Owen, Kameron Kielly pounced on the rebound and fired it home to restore the Stars’ lead at 37:17.

Johan Porsberger levelled the score at 51:20, collecting a pass from Justin Ducharme on the rush before firing the puck past Fiske.

Neither side could find a winner in regulation, sending the game to overtime where, despite numerous chances, it remained scoreless and required a shootout to decide the winner.

A back-and-forth shootout went the distance, but Jarrett Fiske stood tall, and Drydn Dow and Spencer Naas beat Shane Owen to secure a massive two points for the Stars.
