Dundee came out strong in a scoreless opening period, testing Matt Greenfield with a number of chances off the rush.
Back-to-back penalties gave Sheffield extended powerplay time, including a brief 5-on-3, but the Stars’ penalty kill held firm and Jarrett Fiske was sharp in denying the visitors.

The Steelers opened the scoring thirty two seconds into the second period, with Mitchell Balmas finding space to wrist a shot from the high slot past Jarrett Fiske.
Mikko Juusola made it 2-0 at 23:05, capitalising on scramble in front of the Stars’ net to knock the puck past Fiske.
Dominic Cormier added a third for the visitors at 26:35, pouncing on a rebound after Fiske made an initial save on Mitchell Heard.
Jordon Southorn sent a back-door pass to Ryan Tait, who buried the puck into the Stars’ net at 33:30 to make it 4-0.

Despite Fiske making a stop on Ryan Tait, the puck fell to Mitchell Balmas, who fired a long-range shot past the Stars’ netminder at 46:02 for his second of the night.
Balmas completed his hat trick at 59:11 with a wraparound goal into the Stars’ net, securing a 6-0 win for the Steelers.
