The MKM Dundee Stars travelled to the Utilita Arena to face the Sheffield Steelers, where they ultimately fell 9-0.

Sheffield opened the scoring through Robert Dowd, who netted his 400th career EIHL goal by redirecting a shot from Mitchell Balmas past Jarrett Fiske just 45 seconds in.

Brett Ritchie doubled the lead at 05:23, finding space in the high slot and firing the puck above Fiske.

Ritchie struck again to make it 3-0, cutting through the Stars’ defence before taking the puck forehand-to-backhand and beating Fiske in close.

Ivan Björkly Nordström added a fourth at 27:07, converting on a two-on-one rush with a wrist shot past Fiske.

Kyle Watson scored his first EIHL goal to make it 5-0 at 37:17, beating Fiske with a one-timer off the rush.

A holding penalty against Keanu Yamamoto proved costly for the Stars, as Mitchell Heard converted on the ensuing power play with a shot in close at 39:47.

Despite Emil Kruse — who started the third period in relief of Fiske — making an impressive stick save on Balmas, Mikko Juusola pounced on the rebound to add a seventh at 47:20.

Ryan Tait fed a pass from behind the Stars’ net to Evan Jasper, who crashed the crease to beat Kruse at 51:09.

Stephen Harper rounded out the scoring at 55:15, tipping a shot from Jordon Southorn past Kruse to make it 9-0.
