The Kitmart Dundee Stars have now completed their five on-ice training sessions and all that remains of their preseason preparations are two exhibition matches against Fife Flyers, this weekend.

With the Stars welcoming the Flyers to the DIA tonight, the team had a brief morning skate to go through some last minute preparation and afterwards we caught up with a few more of the new recruits.

Swedish forward, Sebastian Bengtsson has been impressed by his new teammates since day one and is raring to go for tonight’s Tayside Derby.

He said: “It feels great to get things going again and to meet the team, everything has felt good so far this week and we are getting better every day.

“We look really good and I cannot wait to get into tonight’s game and see how we are doing in those situations.

“I am so excited for tonight, I have been hearing these derbies are something special, so it will be really fun to see all the fans there for the first time!”

After completing the week-long training camp, Alexandre Ranger then explained his delight to be back on the ice after a long lay-off due to the pandemic.

He said: “It was great to get out there!

“I had heavy legs from the long flight over on my first day, but it was great to get here and meet the boys.

“We have a had a great time so far getting to know each other and we had some good sessions.”

He continued: “I am really happy to be here, it is good to be back on the ice, as I did not play last year, so I was really motivated to get the skates on again.”

He then added: “I am really excited for Friday night, like I said, I have not played in a long time, so, I am itching to get started.

“I was told there was a really good rivalry with Fife, so I am sure it will be a fun weekend.”
