The MKM Dundee Stars continue the hunt for a playoff spot this weekend, first with a trip to Northern Ireland to face the Belfast Giants on Saturday before hosting the Glasgow Clan on Sunday.

Marc LeFebvre’s men are coming off a tough weekend, falling 5-2 at home to the Coventry Blaze on Saturday before suffering a 4-2 defeat in Kirkcaldy against the Fife Flyers.

Craig Garrigan, Matt Boudens, Spencer Naas and Kameron Kielly all found the back of the net across the two games, while Otto Nieminen recorded a three-point weekend.

“We have no identity to our game right now,” said LeFebvre. “We’re good one period, poor the next — good one shift, poor the next — so it’s inconsistency all around.”

Dundee and Belfast faced off just over two weeks ago at the Dundee Ice Arena, where the Giants skated away with a 7-4 victory. Drydn Dow scored his first career hat trick, while Spencer Naas and Morten Jürgens each registered two points.

Belfast, meanwhile, saw goals from David Goodwin, Gabe Bast, Jordan Kawaguchi, Carter Hamill, Ben Lake and Bo Hanson.

Since then, Adam Keefe’s side have won nine of their last ten games. Gabe Bast, Marcus Eriksson and Mike Lee are all riding four-game point streaks, while David Goodwin has recorded 11 points in his last eight games.

The Stars and Clan last met at the end of December, beginning with a Boxing Day clash at the Braehead Arena before facing off again the following night in Dundee. Glasgow claimed both encounters, picking up 3-1 and 4-1 victories respectively.

Robert Lachowicz, Brady Risk, Tristin Langan, Daniel Tedesco, Steven Seigo, Jason Fram and Deven Sideroff all found the back of the net for the Clan, while Spencer Naas and Kameron Kielly scored for Dundee.

Glasgow have lost seven of their last eight games and have been hit hard by injuries. Starting netminder Sami Aittokallio suffered a lower-body injury a number of weeks ago, forcing Corey Neilson to sign Liam Soulière as cover while pushing former Star Lucas Brine into the starting role.

Faceoff for Sunday’s massive home game is scheduled for 5 p.m., with tickets on sale NOW!
