Curran joins the Stars most recently from the Nottingham Panthers, where he recorded five points in 11 games and helped the English side lift the 2026 Continental Cup last month.
A veteran of the Elite Ice Hockey League, the 30-year-old forward has registered 186 points in 268 EIHL games since the 2019-20 campaign, having previously iced for the Fife Flyers, Belfast Giants and Coventry Blaze.
On the international stage, Curran has won 15 caps for Team GB, and was part of the squad that claimed gold and promotion at the IIHF World Championship in May 2023.

A native of Niagara Falls, Ontario, he spent four seasons at Niagara University in the NCAA, recording 55 points before signing his first professional contract with the Coventry Blaze for the 2019-20 season.
Curran signed with the Fife Flyers ahead of last season, but was limited to just three games due to a season ending injury. Following the departure of Tom Coolen last December, he stepped into the role of Interim Head Coach.
After returning to game shape, Curran began this season splitting time between the Norfolk Admirals and Rapid City Rush in the ECHL, before joining Danny Stewart’s squad in Nottingham at the end of December on a five-week contract.

After securing Curran’s signature for the remainder of the season, head coach Marc LeFebvre said:
“Johnny gives us a major boost — something we’ve been desperately needing. He’s a top-six player and is good up and down the ice.
“He’s been one of the most impactful players in the league over the past few seasons, especially in a top-six role.
“He’s a mature player, knows the league, plays the right way and overall gives us a real boost to our lineup.”
Curran is expected to make his Stars debut this weekend, and will wear #48.
