Jake Coughler opened the scoring at 11:03 for Guildford, finding space in the high slot and firing a shot above the glove of Emil Kruse.

A slashing penalty on Bradley Schoonbaert proved costly for the Stars, as Cole Ully converted on the ensuing powerplay with a slapshot from the right circle past Kruse to make it 2-0.

Josh Waller made it 3-0 forty-seven seconds into the second period, picking up a pass from Josh Nixon off the rush and slipping behind the Stars’ defense to lift the puck past Kruse.

The Flames scored their second powerplay goal of the game at 29:31 in similar fashion to their first, with Cole Ully firing a slapshot from the circle past Kruse and making it 4-0 with his second of the game.

Nixon scored his second of the game at 34:54, redirecting Josh Waller’s shot past Kruse with his skate to make it 5-0, prompting a goaltender change by the Stars.

Jack Jacome capitalised on extended pressure in the Stars’ zone at 36:15, sending a shot from the blueline through traffic past Jarrett Fiske for Guildford’s sixth goal of the night.

Jacome would net his second of the game on the powerplay at 37:45 with a wrist shot from the left circle beating the glove of Fiske.
