A back-and-forth opening period saw both teams exchange chances, with Jarret Fiske and Shane Owen both being forced into action. Fife controlled the pace of the play to start, but the Stars battled back and displayed strong determination to close out the period with neither team managing to find the back of the net.
The visitors scored early in the second period, with Josh Winquist getting his side on the board at 21:08. Mason Alderson managed to cut through a tight Stars defense, with the puck falling to Winquist who put it past Fiske to make it 1-0.
An unlucky bouncing puck in the Stars’ zone proved dire, and Ethan Somoza capitalised as he fired a shot into the Dundee net to double the Flyers’ lead at 31:24.
The third period was feisty, as Dundee looked to generate some momentum and provide a spark. Despite this, the Flyers struck again, this time through Ryan Nicholson at 44:18. The defenseman found space in the high slot, and fired a shot through traffic to beat Fiske to make it 3-0.
Josh Winquist sealed the win for Fife, adding a fourth goal and his second of the night at 53:10, taking advantage of extended pressure in front of the Dundee net and redirecting Andrew McLean’s shot past Fiske.
