The Kitmart Dundee Stars are excited to announce that this year’s pre-season friendly games have been confirmed. Danish side, Odense Bulldogs will travel to Tayside for back-to-back games at Dundee Ice Arena on Saturday August 24th and Sunday August 25th.

The two exhibition matches will provide pre-season tests for Omar Pacha’s men as they ready themselves for the next Elite League campaign in September.

Odense head coach, Pelle Svensson will bring his side to Scotland for a second time in 12 months.
Last August, the Bulldogs played a friendly match in Kirkcaldy, where they were narrowly defeated 2-1 by Fife Flyers

.
The Danish club play out of the 3280-seater Bryggeriet Vestfyen Arena, which is located on the island of Funen and the Bulldogs currently play in the Danish Metal Ligaen.

The club first began playing as Odense IK in 1990-91 in the Danish second division but were promoted into the top-flight the next year, where they became the Bulldogs.

Having sustained their top-flight status since then, they have won a single league title back in 2002-03 and have made it to the playoff final three times, most recently in the 2011-12 season.

There are some common connections between Dundee and Odense with two former Bulldogs icing for the Stars in recent times, Lukas Lundvald and Rob Ricci both spent a year with each team.

Other well-known names who have played for the Danish club include Scott Matzka (Cardiff Devils), Rasmus Bjerrum (Glasgow Clan) and Marc-Olivier Vallerand (Coventry Blaze and Sheffield Steelers).

Stars head coach Pacha was delighted to organise another European friendly fixture after the success of last season’s two home warm-up games against German side, EHC Freiburg.

He said: “We are excited to bring the likes of the Odense Bulldogs to our city.

“We wanted to face a Danish team and after speaking to them, I think they will be a solid team and provide a good challenge.

“I think it will be a great experience for both clubs and it will be interesting to see how we compare to them.”

More details on ticket prices and face-off times will be confirmed at a later date.
