Maxim Eliseev opened the scoring for the Stars, firing a quick wrist shot from the high slot past Dominik Groh at 06:24.
The Flyers would respond through Xander Lamppa shorthanded, capitalising on a turnover to break away and redirect a pass from Michael Drabek past Carl Stankowski at 14:29.
Victor Bjorkung doubled the visitors’ lead on the power play at 17:05, blasting a one-timer from the point past Stankowski.
Flyers captain Garet Hunt added a third less than a minute later, tipping a shot from Ben Solder into the Stars’ net to make it 1-3 heading into the first intermission.
Neither team could find the back of the net during a back-and-forth second period, despite trading chances on both ends of the ice.
Tension began to rise just after the midway point of the game, as Stars captain Travis Ewanyk dropped the gloves with Joey Pierce in response to a hit along the boards by Pierce.
Fife maintained their two-goal lead during the final period, limiting the Stars to just two shots throughout. A late slashing call on Mike Petizian, followed by a too-many-men call on the Flyers, gave Dundee a prime opportunity to cut the deficit, while also pulling Stankowski for an extra attacker.
However, it wasn’t meant to be for the Stars, as Zach Power fired the puck into an empty net, securing a 1-4 win on the road for the Kirkcaldy side.
