The MKM Dundee Stars picked up a 6-2 win in their home opener against western rivals the Glasgow Clan, completing a four point Challenge Cup weekend.

The Stars fell behind just 01:40 into the game, as Miihkali Teppo pounced on a loose puck and beat Jarrett Fiske after Deven Sideroff drove to the net with a slick move past a Stars defenseman.

Dundee responded at 05:47, after Justin Bean collected a drop pass from Morten Jürgens at the top of the circle and ripped a wrist shot past Sami Aittokallio for his second goal of the weekend to make it 1-1.

Ben Almquist gave Dundee their first lead of the night at 07:00, skating into the Clan zone and displaying his high level of skill to get past the Clan defense and fire a shot past Sami Aittokallio to make it 2-1.

It didn’t take the Clan long to respond, doing so at 09:45 to make it 2-2. An initial shot was stopped by Fiske, however Tristin Langan was first to the loose puck and sent it into the Stars’ net to tie the game.

The second period started with the Clan applying strong pressure, even earning an early five-on-three advantage. However, Dundee battled back and showed strong defensive instincts to keep the visitors off of the scoreboards.

Despite this, it was Keanu Yamamoto who was next to score and put the Stars back in front with a highlight-reel goal. A strong zone entry by fellow returnee Kameron Kielly set up a two-on-one, and after Yamamoto collected the puck he fired a backhand shot from his knees past Aittokallio at 27:53 to make it 3-2.

Kris Inglis extended the lead at 29:24, scoring his first goal since the 2022/23 season after his shot from the wall found a way past the Clan’s netminder, making it 4-2 for the Stars.

Keanu Yamamoto then added his second goal of the game to make it 5-2 at 33:35, finding time and space in close to shoot the puck past Aittokallio which led to the visitors making a goaltender change and bringing in ex-Stars goaltender Lucas Brine.

Glasgow came into the final period strong, putting the pressure on and forcing Jarrett Fiske into a number of key saves in crucial moments. Dundee managed to keep the Clan off of the scoreboard, with Hampus Olsson sealing the win with a shot from the circle that found its way past Lucas Brine to make it 6-2 at 58:37.
