Scott Dutertre’s men suffered a 3-0 loss to the Cardiff Devils last night in a closely contested matchup. After the Stars controlled the majority of the opening period, the Welsh side broke the deadlock after the halfway point of the game before adding two more goals in the third period to secure a home victory.

Carl Stankowski impressed between the pipes, making 41 saves and posting a .956 save percentage.

“There’s nights where you don’t end up on the winning side but you had the effort, tonight was a great example of that,” said Dutertre post-game. “I thought we fought through the whole game, just a couple breakdowns. I really liked our push, it was one of our better games this season and I was really proud of how our group worked. We just need to get in the win column when we do that.”

Dundee and Coventry last met three weeks ago, with the Blaze claiming a 4-3 victory after scoring twice late in the third period.

Rasmus Nousiainen found the back of the net twice for the Stars, while Travis Ewanyk also scored against the Blaze.

Coventry saw goals from Brett Perlini, Ryan Richardson, Nick Grima and Márkó Csollák, with the latter netting the game-winner with less than three minutes remaining in regulation.

Kevin Moore’s side have since enjoyed a strong run of results, picking up wins over the Sheffield Steelers, Manchester Storm and Fife Flyers. However, they are coming off a 1-0 home defeat to the Belfast Giants last night.

Speaking about the previous meeting between the sides and the late goals that secured Coventry the victory, Dutertre said: “It’s not about adjustments as much as being consistent. It’s about learning to play a full game the right way.”

Face-off is scheduled for 5:30pm.
