Coventry opened the scoring early through Jaxson Ezman, who fired a wrist shot from the high slot past Vladislav Pestov’s glove at 02:59.

Carson Musser doubled that lead just over a minute later, capitalising on a defensive breakdown in the Stars’ zone and blasting a one-timer from the left circle into the net at 03:59.

A strong defensive play by Powell Connor in his own zone saw him strip a Blaze forward of the puck before quickly sending a pass up the ice to Matt DeBoer. Using his speed, DeBoer burst behind the Blaze defence and beat Sisu Heikkeri in close with a backhander above his pads to make it 1-2 at 15:38.

Griffin Ness restored the two-goal cushion at 24:04, slotting a rebound into the Stars’ net after Pestov had made a big save on Nick Grima’s point shot.

Ness then scored his second of the night late in the second period, finishing off a two-on-one rush and sliding a backhand past Pestov at 39:33.

Matthew Gleason made it 1-5 less than a minute into the third period, redirecting a pass from Nick Grima past Pestov at 40:45.

Josh Nelson scored his first as a Star at 44:25, breaking into the Blaze zone and beating Heikkeri between the pads with a nifty backhand shot to make it 2-5.

The Blaze responded just over a minute later, with Colby MacArthur redirecting a point shot from Connor Russell at 45:42.

Brynley Capps made it 2-7 at 48:35, rushing down the left wing and firing a shot past Dominick Jaglar, who had come on in relief of Pestov.

Coventry added an eighth at 52:40, with MacArthur scoring his second of the game with a shot from the high slot past Jaglar.

Captain Travis Ewanyk tried to generate a spark late, dropping the gloves with Nick Grima and taking the Blaze defenceman down with a single punch. However, it proved too little, too late as Coventry skated away with the two points.
