The Kitmart Dundee Stars are delighted to welcome back Scott Nicoll and GKD Shepherds as sponsors for a fourth season.
Scott has been one of the first sponsors to put pen to paper for season 2020/21 and we can’t thank him enough for continuing his sponsorship at this very challenging time.
Scott Nicoll commented: “At GKD Shepherds LTD, I’m proud to continue my sponsorship of the Dundee Stars, this partnership is now entering the fourth year, having come on board at the start of the Omar Pacha revolution.
“I have supported Ice Hockey in Dundee from 1981, growing up just around the corner from the old Dundee ice rink in Muirfield Crescent.
“In those days’ trips to home and away games were limited due to parental approval and a lot of odd jobs to pay for them.
“Skip forward to why I came on board via the then Commercial Manager, Elliot Shaw.
“The kids were needing to get away from their respective iPad’s and give their mother a break for a few hours at the weekend.
“Having loved hockey myself as a young adult and it being a sport where you can enjoy, without getting wet, it seemed the perfect fit for my family.
“The transformation and enthusiasm that it brought out of my kids was nothing short of astonishing, so a deal was done, and the sponsorship started.”
Scott continued: “My first meeting with the pocket rocket from Montreal (Pacha) was at the inaugural business club breakfast and a friendship was started.
“The energy and enthusiasm from all connected with the Stars organisation including the front of house staff at the DIA is all down to the energy provided by those that run the club.
“This in turn has invigorated the supporters and raised the profile of the club over the last three years.
“During these trying times both on the ice and more importantly off the ice, it is imperative that we as fans and those that sponsor the club keep the faith and where possible continue our support, which I’m proud to be able to do.
“Whether the season starts in September, October, November, December or even January it is irrelevant, the most important factor is that the staff, players and fans are all safe and healthy.”
Stars General Manager and Head Coach, Omar Pacha added: “Scott has been a tremendous partner for the club and we are excited to have him and GKD Shepherds LTD back on board again for this season.
“From the first day I met him, he has shown great passion and support for the club.
“Finally, we were extremely grateful to Scott for sponsoring the clappers which made the DIA atmosphere even more electric.”
