The MKM Dundee Stars are delighted to announce the signing of American defenseman, Griffin Luce for the 2025-2026 Elite League campaign.

The 27-year-old blueliner joins the club after spending the past season icing in the ECHL with Worcester Railers, where he featured in 71 games and recorded 20 points (5G, 15A).

Born in Williamsville, New York, Griffin – who was invited to the Nashville Predators Training Camp in 2023 and St. Louis Blues Training Camp in 2022 – turned professional in 2020 and has played in the AHL, ECHL and NCAA throughout his career.

Luce, who stands at 6-foot and 3-inches tall, has played 94 games in the American League with Rochester Americans, Springfield Thunderbirds, Milwaukee Admirals and Hartford Wolf Pack.

Griffin, who is a dual national for both the United States and Canada, also spent time in the ECHL with Rapid City Rush after graduating from the University of Michigan, where he was a Wolverine for four seasons.

The left-handed defender also played for the United States National Team Development Programme and is a two-time medallist at the World Junior Championships, winning silver at Under 17 level in 2014-2015 and then bronze at Under 18 in 2015-2016.

LEFEBVRE ON LUCE

After adding a second new signing to his defensive unit in Luce, Stars Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre, said: “Griffin is a big, no-nonsense, two-way defenseman.

“He is mobile and he brings experience as well as physicality to our lineup.

“He has a touch of offense to his game also and his overall attributes are something we were lacking last season and I cannot wait to work with him.”

LUCE ON MOVING TO DUNDEE

Once he finalised his switch to Tayside, Griffin said: “I am pretty excited about this opportunity.

“Marc reached out to me and after some chats, a little bit of research on the town and the team in general, I thought this would be a really good fir for me, so I am really excited to be coming to Dundee.

“I think this will be a really good fit for me as a player and to grow my personal game but also to help my team out as well.

“This will be my first time going over to Europe, so it was important to me to be able to establish a relationship with the coach right away, because it is something new to me and being able to have that comfortability with the coach before heading over really makes that transition a little bit easier.

“I was familiar with the league and I talked to some people about it last summer and then this summer again, so I became more comfortable with it throughout the year, especially after knowing a few guys who have played over there.

“So, I am really looking forward to getting there, seeing the city and having a successful year.”

In his 13-year-career so far, Griffin has featured in 564 matches, recorded 22 goals, 68 assists and collected 585 penalty minutes, while also playing in five playoff games, where he tallied two penalty minutes.

Griffin is our 10th signing of the summer and joins Drydn DowJonathan McBeanJarrett FiskeJackson DesouzaCraig MooreCraig GarriganKeanu Yamamoto, Dominick Jaglar and Kris Inglis on next season’s roster.
