Dundee Stars forward Lukas Lundvald has been named the Elite League’s Player of the Week for period ending 21st January 2018.

The 22-year-old picked up a goal and an assist as the Stars took unlikely points in a 7-6 penalty shots win at Fife Flyers on Saturday after being 5-2 down early in the third period.

Then he bookended the scoring with Dundee’s first and last in their 4-1 victory over Braehead Clan on Sunday to help the team complete a four-point weekend.

It keeps their recent good run of form going, having won six of their last seven which has saw Dundee rise to tenth in the table as they battle for a play-off spot.

And the Dane has every confidence Omar Pacha and his men can be in the top eight by the end of the season.

“We got four really big points this weekend and it feels really good to have got those wins,” Lundvald said.

“The belief is there that that we can make it into the play-offs.  I wasn’t here before and I’ve only been here while we’ve done well, but we can definitely make it.

“There are so many points to play for and so many games, we’re taking it one game at a time.  If we deliver 100% every night, we’ll be there for sure.

“I hope to deliver more for the fans in the games coming up, but it’s all about getting the wins and going up the standings.”

Lundvald arrived at Dundee on New Year’s Day and in his short spell so far, has scored four and assisted in four in his six appearances so far.

And Pacha has been more than pleased with his player’s contribution, which has helped in their turnaround in form as they look up the table, with the top eight in sight.

He said: “Lukas has been a good asset since he came here to join the team and he skates very well and plays with an edge.

“It’s no coincidence our results have improved since he and Cody Carlson arrived and he’s contributed a lot since coming to us so I was pleased at the weekend he had.

“He is always able to be at the net and uses his shot well and we’re hoping he can keep getting better on a week by week basis.”
