The MKM Dundee Stars battled hard, but were beaten 4-1 on the road by the Glasgow Clan in Challenge Cup action.

Glasgow opened the scoring on Sunday night, doing so at 09:47. A stretch pass from Brayden Burke found Deven Sideroff streaking into the Stars’ zone, who beat Emil Kruse in close to make it 1-0. Matt Boudens responded less than two minutes later at 11:28 to level the score at 1-1. A fortunate bounce off a failed clearing attempt by the Clan led to Boudens finding himself alone in the high slot, making no mistake with a perfect wrist shot past the glove of Sami Aittokallio.

Despite a strong start from Dundee, Deven Sideroff scored his second of the game just 84 seconds into the second period at 21:24, firing a shot from a tight angle under the pads of Kruse. The first powerplay of the night went the way of the Stars after Darien Kielb was called for high-sticking. Despite generating several quality chances, Dundee were unable to capitalise, and the Clan successfully killed off the man advantage. A hooking call against Keanu Yamamoto, shortly followed by a too-many-men bench minor, put the Stars on a 5-on-3 penalty kill. This would prove costly when Deven Sideroff redirected Jason Fram’s shot from the point past Kruse to complete the hattrick at 38:13.

Deven Sideroff scored the lone goal of the third period, his fourth of the game at 53:17. The Clan captain carried the puck over the blueline, and fired a shot over the shoulder of Kruse to make it 4-1. The Stars battled valiantly in hopes to close the scoring gap, and Emil Kruse made numerous strong saves to deny the homeside a fifth. However, it wasn’t enough, and Glasgow held on to secure the two Challenge Cup points.
