The Concordia Stingers, hailing from Concordia University in Montreal, are celebrated members of Canadian university ice hockey in the U Sports league and are one of the most successful organisations within their league.
Their appearance in Dundee continues a historic pattern, dating as far back as 1980, when Canadian standout Roy Halpin, Canadian line mate Kevin O’Neill and uncompromising New York defenseman Chris Brinster (who all played with the Stingers while at university) came to Dundee and featured in a tournament involving the Dundee Rockets. Mike Walker would join the Rockets in 1983-84, swelling the former Concordia ranks in Dundee.
This amazing connection bridging 45 years, that has saw other Stingers players follow the same path, most recently being last seasons Kelly Cup winner Anthony Beauregard and our very own Philippe Sanche, who has moved onto the LNAH league for the 25-26 season.
Also as a team the Concordia Stingers are no strangers to the Dundee Ice Arena, having travelled for a pre-season game in 2008. In a game which the visitors won 8-2. However we expect a far closer game this time around as the Stars were in the SNL that season, with no imports in the line up.
