The MKM Dundee Stars are delighted to announce the re-signing of American forward, Spencer Naas for the 2025-2026 Elite League campaign.

The 29-year-old, left winger – who can also play at center – returns for a third campaign in the city of discovery and last year, he started his season off with EHC Freiburg in Germany’s DEL2, where he played in 25 matches and scored 10 points (7G, 3A).

Spencer then re-joined the club in December and went on to score 48 points (16G, 32A) in 37 matches, adding those to his previous 64 Elite League points.

In his debut season, Naas led the entire Elite League in goals with 32 in the regular season and totalled 59 points, as well as scoring twice in the Challenge Cup and adding three more points in the playoffs.

The Minnesota native was also named to the EIHL’s Second All-Star Team in the 2023-2024 and has previously played in the American Hockey League, ECHL, French top flight and Swedish third tier.

LEFEBVRE ON NAAS

After securing Spencer’s signature for the upcoming season, Stars Director of Hockey Operations and Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre, said: “Spencer gives us everything, whether it is offensively, defensively, he gives us the lot and he has been one of the best two-way forwards in the league over the past two seasons.

“He also gives us a big bite up front but just as importantly, he is a big leader in our locker room too.

“He is an all-round professional and you want guys like him in your club because it rubs off on the younger guys too, when a guy like that can lead both on and off the ice.

“Overall, I am over the moon to have a player of his capabilities back on our roster.”

NAAS ON STAYING FOR A THIRD TERM

Once he signed the paperwork on his new extension, Spencer said: “I am thrilled to be coming back to Dundee, it has been a second home for me these past couple of years.

“I have a real connection with the fans, Marc, the Ward Family and the guys who are returning, so I am super excited to build on that and hopefully we have a great season.

“It was not a hard decision, Marc and I have a very open line of communication, which I appreciate and I think we have that relationship know where we are comfortable with each other.

“So, it really was not a difficult decision, it was just getting the details in place and it is really exciting to be back.

“When I was looking at coming back, I wanted to make sure that Marc and everyone else in the organisation had the same mindset of trying to take another step forward.

“Over the last two seasons we have been in a similar position of getting into the final playoff spot on the last day and I think we are capable of more than that, so that is what excited me because everyone seems intent on doing whatever is necessary to take that next step.”
