The Stars host the Flames tonight before welcoming the Giants to Tayside tomorrow and they will be aiming to build off last week’s three-point haul, Dundee’s most productive weekend since December 26-28.
Marc LeFebvre’s men won 6-2 against Glasgow Clan last Saturday as they came from 2-0 down with goals from Zach Tsekos (2), Philippe Sanche, Spencer Naas (2) and Keanu Yamamoto, before Tsekos and Brett Gravelle pulled the Stars back from 2-0 behind again on Sunday, as they went on to lose 3-2 in overtime to Coventry Blaze.
Now they face the Flames, who arrive on Tayside in-form after winning their last two matches as they beat Sheffield Steelers 6-2 at home last weekend and then they were 6-3 winners over the Blaze in Coventry on Wednesday.
In the past three meetings this season, Guildford have won the last two and the only match in Dundee as they picked up a 3-1 result, with Jonathan McBean the Stars lone scorer.
Speaking ahead of this weekend’s home double header, Stars Head Coach, Marc LeFebvre said: “We are continuing to take it one game at a time with a ‘Game Seven’ mentality.
“We know what Guildford bring and that is a lot of speed, their good on their transition and they have some really good goaltending this season.
“They are also coming off a big win over Coventry (Blaze) on Wednesday night, where they were down 3-1 and put five goals in the back of the net in the third period, but also a big victory against Sheffield (Steelers) last weekend.
“They will come in here with confidence and they obviously have a lot of firepower, but that is team we want to try and close the gap to in the standings, now that we have played the same amount of games, so we have to find a way to narrow that gap and get a win on home ice.”
Face-off for tonight’s game against Guildford is at 7pm.
