The Kitmart Dundee Stars are well underway in their preparations for this tonight’s MASSIVE Challenge Cup Quarter-Final first leg against Glasgow Clan.

After the most successful group stage phase in Stars franchise history, head coach, Omar Pacha elected to play Glasgow in the last eight stage.

Below is a quick look back at the six group stage games that put Dundee as the number one seed, after five wins and one narrow defeat at the hands of Fife Flyers.

In their first competitive match, the Stars punished the Clan’s mistakes and despite a late fight back from Glasgow, Dundee quickly squashed any comeback hopes.

Dundee were in even more control the following night as the Clan came to Tayside. The Stars took all their chances when they came and severely limited Glasgow’s opportunities.

Fife Flyers 2

The Flyers edged a game that was dominated by Dundee, but it all came down to Fife’s going to the net mentality which rewarded them with a crucial goal early in the third period.

 

Belfast Giants 3

The Stars went over to Belfast and hit the ground running, they quickly set-up their defences and punished the Giants with quick-counter attacks, even whilst shorthanded as they netted two goals whilst being a man down.

It was a closer affair in Dundee a few weeks later as the Giants took the lead three times but were pegged back on each occasion before the Stars nicked the win inside the final two minutes.

 

Fife Flyers 3

The Stars rounded off their Group A campaign with another fine performance as they battled hard and took a lead from the first period in Fife. Dundee then pushed themselves ahead in the second before holding off the Flyers comeback in the third.

The Stars are now ready for their next challenge which is getting past Glasgow Clan again as the first leg of the Challenge Cup Quarter-Finals gets underway tonight at 7:30pm.
