The MKM Dundee Stars host the Sheffield Steelers tonight for the final time this season, before travelling to the Utilita Arena tomorrow for a rematch.

Marc LeFebvre’s men are coming off an away double header against the Cardiff Devils, which saw them get shutout 3-0 on Saturday before falling 8-1 24 hours later.

“Saturday, I thought we played really hard. I wouldn’t say we played a complete game, but we competed all night for the most part — we just can’t find the back of the net. We had plenty of chances and good opportunities, but credit to their goalie, who played well.

The last eight minutes on Sunday were disgraceful. You look at the scoreline — we embarrassed ourselves. I know we’ve had a terrible season, and I take full responsibility for that, but there are no words to describe those last eight minutes.”

The Stars are looking to pick up their first win over the Steelers this season, with Aaron Fox’s men having claimed the first four meetings between the sides.

Sheffield are coming off a 4-2 win over the Nottingham Panthers, but had lost their previous two games to the Panthers and Belfast Giants.

Mitchell Balmas leads the league with 63 points and 33 goals, while Evan Jasper and Robert Dowd are both riding multi-game point streaks.

“There are two things that we can control, and that’s our work ethic and our attitude. We have five games left, why not go out with some positivity,” added LeFebvre.

“I know we haven’t had much success against Sheffield — they play with a lot of speed and skill — so we’ve got to get the puck out of our zone quickly and up north. I think we only have one goal against these guys in four games so we’ve got to find a way to the back of the net, but we look forward to the challenge.”

Faceoff is scheduled for 7:30p.m., with tickets on sale NOW!
