Kitmart Dundee Stars defenseman, Reilly O’Connor is hoping that the DIA will be sold out for this Saturday’s massive Tayside Derby, as he and the rest of the players head down the final stretch towards the playoffs.

With the Stars hosting their biggest rivals, Fife Flyers in their only game of the weekend, O’Connor is hoping that fans will come out to support the team in big numbers and help to pack the barn to create another great atmosphere. You can buy your tickets HERE!

He said: “It is always great to see the rink packed and we are really looking forward to having everyone out.

“The guys are ready to put on a good performance for fans and are determined to get the right result for them in this big derby.”

Dundee come into the match off the back of a big win over league leaders, Sheffield Steelers and that has given the players a big momentum boost, according to the British-Canadian blueliner.

O’Connor added: “The guys are feeling pretty good, we had a big win last week and that helps us going into the huge game we have coming up on Saturday against Fife.

“So, the guys are focused and ready to get those two crucial points.”

Reflecting on last week’s win in Sheffield, Reilly continued:

“It was our only game of the weekend and it is always good to win those big matches.

“We really wanted to focus on going in there and playing a good road game and just trying to get the result that we wanted.

“I thought the guys did a good job and it felt great to get that result.”

Omar Pacha’s players have built another good run of form recently and it is fuelling their charge towards a playoff spot but the return of injured players has really helped out, said O’Connor.

“Lately, I think the guys have been doing a good job of picking up their assignments and playing hard.

“We also got some guys back from injury finally, so we are healthier at the back end and we had six defenders in the last game, which helped a lot and I think that made the difference.”

With only 11 games left in the regular season for the Tayside team, the Stars need to keep coming up with big results to reach the post-season and the native of Epsom, Surrey insists that the team must remain focused.

Reilly commented: “We just have to stay focused, we can’t get too high or too low and we just have to keep pushing until the very end!”
