A scrappy first period in Dundee saw neither side find the back of the net, despite chances being exchanged at both ends of the ice.
Making his first start for Dundee, Dominick Jaglar made a number of strong saves to keep the visitors at bay, while Rodions Pronskis denied several quality chances from the Stars.
Tensions began to rise almost immediately, as Powell Connor dropped the gloves with Roberts Freidenfelds at 05:21, before Evan Brand and Niklāvs Lagzdiņš followed suit at 13:33.
Gloves began to fly once again just before the midway mark of the game, with Brodi Stuart quickly taking care of Daniils Andrejevs at 26:49.
Rasmus Nousiainen opened the scoring at 31:10, firing a shot from the blue line through traffic and past Rodions Pronskis.
Ben Brown doubled the lead just over five minutes later, beating Pronskis in close with a nifty move at 37:20.
Just over a minute later, captain Travis Ewanyk made it 3-0, knocking the puck into the Liepāja net to send the Stars up 3-0 heading into the final frame.
Rasmus Nousiainen wasted no time in the third period, scoring his second of the night at 43:25 after breaking in with speed and firing the puck past Pronskis to make it 4-0.
Kristers Butans got Liepāja on the board at 48:56 with a quick backhand shot in close past Carl Stankowski.
The Stars responded through Maxim Eliseev, who picked up a nice pass from Sebastian Bengtsson and fired a wrist shot into the Liepāja net at 52:36.
Duggie Lagrone made it 6-1 less than twenty seconds later as he redirected a shot from Sebastian Bengtsson at 52:52.
Ben Brown finalised the scoring under a minute later at 53:37 with a highlight reel goal to secure a massive 7-1 win over HK Liepāja.
