The Stars are coming off a successful weekend of home preseason action, picking up a 7-1 win over HK Liepāja last Saturday before knocking off the Kyiv Capitals 6-3 on Sunday.
“I think we did a good job settling things down early on in the game,” said Head Coach Scott Dutertre. “We’ve been focusing on the details in our defensive zone, and we did a good job of controlling the middle of the ice and forcing them to the outside to create turnovers that way.”
“We made a couple of adjustments in the neutral zone at the start of the second period and the guys responded. It’s nice to have a coachable group like that.”
Ben Brown led the Stars in scoring across the two games with three goals and an assist, while Maxim Eliseev recorded four points. Duggie Lagrone, Gary Haden, Sebastian Bengtsson, Jonathan McBean and Rasmus Nousiainen all finished with three points.
“Morale is good, everyone is happy,” said Brown. “We know we just need to keep going, keep working hard and keep winning games.”
“It’s always special to be playing at home in front of my family. This is where I grew up playing, so it meant a lot to me to be playing back at home.”
The ECDC Memmingen Indians are travelling to Scotland for the first time, having fallen 4-2 in a close battle against the Glasgow Clan at the Braehead Arena last night.
Markus Lillich scored shorthanded at the halfway point of the game to get Memmingen on the scoresheet, while Maxime Bickel redirected a shot from the point in the closing seconds for the second.
Michael Bitzer was in net for the Indians throughout the game, allowing just two goals in sixty minutes of action.
Last season, the club enjoyed their most successful season to date, finishing second in the German Oberliga Süd division with a 42-8-2 record and 124 points.
The Indians then went on to win the Oberliga for the first time in franchise history, beating the division-leading Deggendorfer SC 4-2 in a thrilling six-game playoff final.
With this victory, the Indians earned promotion to the DEL2 ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Félix Brassard, Memmingen’s leading scorer during both the regular season and playoffs last year, is returning for his second season, while Matteo Gennaro will bolster the Indians’ forward group after spending the last three seasons in the ICEHL, bringing 91 games of AHL experience to the club.
Former Guildford Flame Jamal Watson is returning to Germany after having spent the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons with ESV Kaufbeuren, and goaltender Justus Roth will once again be between the pipes for Memmingen after posting a .921 save percentage and 2.29 goals-against average in 42 games last season.
Faceoff is scheduled for 7pm at the Dundee Ice Arena.
