The Trade-Mart Dundee Stars are pleased to announce that Drydn Dow will resume his role as captain for the remainder of the season.

Dow who previously captained the Stars during the 21/22 Season moved up to be player assistant coach alongside Head Coach Jeff Mason. Dow will continue in his role as player assistant whilst also taking up the captaincy, a role left vacant since the departure of Fabrizio Ricci earlier this season.

Stars GM and Head Coach Jeff Mason had this to say about the appointment “After the departure of Fab it was important to take time and assess who was best suited to take up the  leadership role for our hockey team going forward, after much consideration it was evident to me that the best choice was for Drydn to resume the role he previously held.

I will still lean on him in his capacity as player assistant coach, but this move will allow him to be the clear on ice leader as well.”

New captain Drydn Dow commented;

“It’s a huge honour to be named captain for this team and I’m excited to take that on again.”

“I don’t plan on differing from how I apporoached my position as assistant coach, but just want to continue to try to lead by example and rely on all the leaders in the room, as we make our push to the playoffs.”

The rest of the Stars leadership group will remain unchanged with Hugo Reinhardt and Kris Inglis wearing the assistant captain’s A’s at home and Colin Joe and Phillipe Sanche on the road.

The Stars are back in action this weekend when they Face-off against the Coventry Blaze at home in the league on Friday 13 January before travelling to the Clan on Sunday 15 January at 5pm. Tickets for Friday night are available HERE!
