The MKM Dundee Stars are delighted to announce the signing of American defenceman Duggie Lagrone for the 2026/27 season.

Lagrone, 32, joins the Stars from the Tulsa Oilers (ECHL), where he spent the past three seasons playing under new Stars Head Coach Scott Dutertre.

The Plano, Texas native has recorded 115 points across 278 career ECHL games, establishing himself as a reliable offensive presence from the blueline.

Standing at 5’9”, Lagrone split his junior career between the USHL and NAHL before beginning his collegiate career at Colorado College (NCAA), where he appeared in 33 games prior to transferring to SUNY-Geneseo (NCAA III) for his final two seasons of eligibility. During his time at Geneseo, Lagrone recorded 52 points in 55 games en route to two SUNYAC Championships and All-USCHO First Team honours.

Following a successful collegiate career, Lagrone made the move to Europe for the first time, signing with Chambéry in France. His first professional season proved to be a success, recording 18 points in 26 games while earning a place on the league’s All-Star Team.

Lagrone returned to North America the following season, winning the President’s Cup with the Pensacola Ice Flyers (SPHL), before signing with the Nottingham Panthers ahead of the 2022/23 season.

However, his spell with the Panthers was cut short after just 15 appearances in black and gold due to injury.

After confirming the move to Dundee, Lagrone said:

“I’m so excited to get over there and get going. The summer’s nice, but by mid-June you’re itching to get back playing. I’ve been in the UK before and played a handful of games in Scotland, so I can’t wait to get back.”

Speaking about reuniting with Craig Moore, he added:

“He’s one of my really good friends. We were roommates in Nottingham and hit it off right away. Coming over was kind of a no-brainer for me. I’ve got a great coaching situation, and I already know someone on the team who I’m good friends with.”

Finally, Lagrone shared a message for Stars fans:

“Thank you for your patience over the long summer. I know you’re all itching just as much as we are to get back to hockey, and I look forward to seeing you all at the DIA.”

Head Coach Scott Dutertre commented on what Lagrone will bring to Dundee both on and off the ice:

“Duggie brings a whole different level of energy to the team. He’s a really responsible guy in the room, a good leader, and especially in the community, he could end up being the mayor of Dundee.”

“He’s not the biggest defenceman, but he battles hard in the defensive zone and can jump into the play and generate offence as well.”

Lagrone is our 18th signing of the summer, joining Josh Nelson, Jonathan McBean, Ben BrownTravis Ewanyk, Keaton Jameson, Craig Moore, Evan Brand, Tyson Laventure, Gary Haden, Matt DeBoer, Zack Hoffman, Brodi Stuart, Kris Inglis, Sebastian Bengtsson, Vladislav Pestov, Sean Strange and Rasmus Nousiainen on next season’s roster.
