This weekend’s highlighted player is recently arrived defenseman, Chris Lijdsman and he will be manning the blueline this weekend in our Elite league double head against Glasgow Clan.

By Kris Smith

The Canadian joined the Stars two weeks ago after icing in the ECHL and American Hockey League last season, and now brings his steadying presence to the Dundee blueline.

So far in two appearances, Lijdsman has picked up one assist, whilst being on the ice for three goals scored and none conceded.

The 31-year-old will play against Glasgow Clan for the first time this evening and will be key to shutting down their offence after the Braehead club collected back-to-back wins last weekend.

Stars Head Coach, Jeff Mason then shared his thoughts on how Chris has performed during his first few games with the team.

He said: “He has been exactly as advertised since coming in, which is as someone who plays a very steady game, is very composed and calm back there and that is how he has been for us in the games so far.

“I have been extremely happy with his performances and I hope he can just continue on and gives us that really simple game at the back, that calms us down.”

Face-off is at 7:30pm for tonight’s away game in Glasgow and we face the Clan at home at 7pm tomorrow and you can purchase tickets HERE.
