Omar Pacha wants his side to get back to winning ways following last night’s 7-3 defeat in Surrey to Guildford Flames, where Adam Harding and Justin Fox both iced after recovering from injuries.
Malcolm Gould, Jimmy Jensen and Gabriel Lévesque all found the net for Dundee last night as the team from Tayside picked-up their fifth straight loss.
Emerson Hrynyk was thrown out of last night’s game for abuse of an official but will not be suspended for tonight’s match, unless the Department of Player Safety make an announcement before the tonight’s face-off at Ice Arena Wales.
Last night the Devils overcame Manchester Storm 4-3 in overtime, thanks to Gleason Fournier’s brace and Andrew Hotham, with Sean Bentivoglio scoring the overtime winner. Cardiff now have two wins back-to-back after defeating Edinburgh Capitals 5-3 on Wednesday evening.
Dundee’s last win came against Cardiff as they defeated the reigning league champions 3-1on home ice two weeks ago.
Goals from Stadel, Andersson and Gabriel Lévesque were enough to get past a struggling Cardiff side, who failed to overcome a short benched Stars team, despite Tyson Strachan pulling one back for the Welsh side.
It will not be easy for the Tayside team as they take on Cardiff at IAW, however other teams have recently caused some big upsets in the Welsh Capital.
Most recently the Fife Flyers who fought back from 5-1 down to win 8-6, then the Belfast Giants equalised with five seconds left before taking the points in a shootout just last weekend.
Joey Martin has been in fine form for Devils as he has 20 points from 18 games, with a breakdown of 9 goals and 11 assists.
Craig Moore has been ruled out indefinitely for the remainder of the Devils’ season after he sustained a lower-body injury last month. However, Justin Faryna, the other ex-Star who made the switch to Cardiff this summer is fit and available for tonight’s game.
Stars Swedish forward, Jimmy Jensen is confident that they can “get a good result” if Stars stick their game plan.
Jensen said: “It is a big challenge for us, we have to stick to our game plan and work harder than them for 60 minutes, just like we did the last time when we played them at home.
“If we can do that I’m positive we will get a good result.”
Refereeing this match-up is Jan Schmejkal, who will be assisted by linesmen Lee Young and Sam Motton, this is the trio’s first encounter with the Stars this season.
Tonight’s match will face-off at 6pm, tickets are still available and also the Devils’ have a live webcast.
The Dundee Stars next home game is against the Manchester Storm on Saturday December 10.
