The MKM Dundee Stars are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian forward Tyson Laventure for the 2026/27 season.

Laventure, 23, joins the Stars following two seasons with the University of Alberta (USports), where he recorded 31 points in 40 games.

Originally selected 31st overall by the Prince Albert Raiders in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft, Laventure went on to register 172 points in 271 WHL appearances split between the Raiders, Lethbridge Hurricanes, Swift Current Broncos and Victoria Royals.

He led the Hurricanes in goals with 22 during the 2022/23 season and scored at over a point-per-game pace during his final year of junior hockey before committing to the University of Alberta.

During his time with the Golden Bears, Laventure continued to make an impact offensively, and was named Canada West Men’s Hockey Player of the Week in December 2025 after recording four points in two games and scoring a shootout winner.

Standing at 6’3″, Laventure now arrives in Dundee bringing a combination of size, skill and physicality to the Stars’ forward group.

After confirming his move to Dundee, Laventure said:

“I couldn’t be happier, I’m super excited. I’ve been looking into Dundee, and it looks like an awesome place.

On the conversations with Head Coach Scott Dutertre, he added:

“Scott reached out and we talked for a couple of days. I really like his vision for the team and for myself as well, so it was a no-brainer.”

Looking ahead to the season, Laventure concluded:

“I couldn’t be more excited to show what I have to offer and to check out Dundee for myself. It’s going to be a great year and I can’t wait to get going.”

Head Coach Scott Dutertre expressed his delight on finally recruiting Laventure after years of interest:

“Tyson was a guy who I tried to recruit to Tulsa two years ago, but at the time he decided he was going back to school.

I’ve always liked him. He’s a big body and utilises that to protect the puck, so as soon as I found out he would be available to us it was a no-brainer to reach out.”

Laventure is our 8th signing of the summer, joining Josh Nelson, Jonathan McBean, Ben BrownTravis Ewanyk, Keaton Jameson, Craig Moore and Evan Brand on next season’s roster.
